Check electrical cords, plugs and outlets for all indoor and outdoor seasonal lights to ensure fire safety: if worn, or plugs or cords feel warm to the touch, replace immediately.

On cold days, open cabinet doors to allow heat to reach uninsulated pipes under sinks and where appliances are near exterior walls.

Shut off and drain the water system in your home, (except indoor sprinkler systems) before an extended vacation.

Recharge fire extinguishers.

Professionally clean curtains and drapes.

Inspect and touch up interior paint.

Test for carbon monoxide.
